Kodiak Labor Solutions is actively seeking an experienced and highly motivated Assembly Shop Manager to lead and oversee daily operations within a large-scale Pipe Fabrication and Bolt-Up Assembly Shop located in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. This is a long-term opportunity supporting a growing operation with a substantial workforce and a strong project pipeline.


The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of shop production, workforce supervision, scheduling, quality control, safety compliance, and customer communication. This leadership role requires an individual with extensive experience in piping systems, fabrication processes, and personnel management, capable of ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage daily operations of an assembly and pipe fabrication shop consisting of approximately 80–100 employees, including pipefitters, welders, bolt-up technicians, and support personnel.
  • Coordinate production schedules to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, providing project updates, schedule status, and addressing operational concerns.
  • Monitor shop productivity and implement strategies to improve efficiency, quality, and workflow.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and work packages to ensure accurate execution.
  • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, procurement teams, and field operations to maintain seamless project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety standards, quality requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Manage manpower planning, workforce development, performance evaluations, and employee accountability.
  • Oversee material procurement, inventory management, and equipment utilization.
  • Maintain accurate reporting and documentation related to production, scheduling, and project progress.

Required Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of experience as a Shop Manager within the piping, fabrication, mechanical contracting, or industrial construction industry, or equivalent leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large teams in a fabrication or assembly shop environment.
  • Strong understanding of industrial piping systems, fabrication methods, welding processes, and mechanical assembly operations.
  • Proven experience communicating directly with customers regarding project schedules, timelines, deliverables, and production status.
  • Proficiency with computer-based business systems, including:
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Procurement and inventory management software
    • POS and production tracking systems
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, isometric drawings, and project specifications.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and maintain production schedules in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in industrial, commercial, or manufacturing pipe fabrication facilities.
  • Knowledge of quality control processes and welding standards.
  • Experience implementing productivity improvements and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong background in workforce planning and shop operations management.
