Job Description

Assistant Project Manager – Mechanical Construction (HVAC & Plumbing)

We are recruiting for a well-established, mid-sized mechanical contractor based in DFW with over 40 years in the market. Specializing in HVAC, plumbing, piping, and sheet metal fabrication for commercial, industrial, and healthcare projects. Their work is rooted in design-build and design-assist delivery, supported by modern CAD/BIM tools and a strong safety culture.

We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of mechanical construction projects from start to finish. This role works closely with Project Managers and field teams to help drive execution — supporting scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety — while building strong relationships with clients, trade partners, and internal teams.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist in managing multiple mechanical construction projects
  • Support Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Superintendents
  • Help track contracts, schedules of values, budgets, and cost codes
  • Coordinate with field leadership to support planning and execution
  • Assist with material, equipment, and subcontract procurement
  • Support preparation of billings, pay applications, and change orders
  • Partner with design teams on design-build/design-assist projects
  • Help ensure safety compliance across assigned projects
  • Assist with project closeout and documentation

What We’re Looking For

  • 1–3 years of experience in mechanical construction (project engineering, coordination, or APM role)
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems
  • Exposure to design-build/design-assist projects is a plus
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency with construction and accounting software (Timberline/Sage, MS Office, CAD/BIM preferred)
  • Eagerness to learn and grow into a Project Manager role

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base + incentive opportunity
  • 401(k) + Match
  • Medical, dental, vision
  • Paid time off (3 weeks to start) & strong work-life balance (40–50 hours/week)
  • Car allowance, company laptop, and cell phone
