HVAC Project Installer Lead - Journey-Level

Indianapolis, IN | Full-Time | $35–$40/hour

We’re hiring an experienced HVAC Project Installer Lead to lead and perform the installation and replacement of HVAC building systems and support special projects. This position is ideal for someone who can lead a small crew, work independently in the field, and make sure each project is completed safely, efficiently, and to customer expectations.

What You’ll Do

  • Install and replace HVAC and climate-control building systems
  • Prepare jobs by organizing materials, tools, equipment, and daily priorities
  • Lead a small field crew with minimal supervision
  • Execute project work according to approved bids, plans, and project manager direction
  • Perform and support equipment startup
  • Communicate regularly with project managers to address field issues and keep projects moving
  • Maintain daily work logs, job safety analyses, and other required documentation
  • Track and manage crew timesheets and payroll information
  • Coordinate professionally with customers to ensure project expectations are understood and met
  • Maintain quality standards by following established procedures and project requirements
  • Support communication between field teams, project management, and other internal departments
  • Follow all jobsite safety requirements, company standards, and codes of conduct

What You Bring

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC and climate-control system installation
  • Ability to perform equipment startup
  • Experience leading or supervising a small field crew
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organization and time-management abilities
  • Ability to work independently and manage changing project priorities
  • Plumbing and pipefitting knowledge preferred, but not required

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical or trade school training is a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC, electrical, heating, cooling, plumbing, or related trades
  • 10+ years of relevant trade experience preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work safely from extension and step ladders
  • Ability to work from scissor lifts and boom lifts
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 45 lbs.
  • Ability to perform the physical duties associated with HVAC installation and field construction work
