Weld Inspector


Pay Rate: $42–$45/hour + $150/day per diem, 7 days per week

Contract Duration: 3–6 months, with potential for full-time hire

Location: Northlake, Texas

Role Overview

The Weld Inspector ensures all fabricated welds meet specifications, applicable codes, quality standards, and safety requirements. This role is essential to maintaining compliance, accuracy, and production integrity throughout the fabrication process.


Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect welds for conformance to specifications, codes, drawings, and fabrication requirements.
  • Verify joint preparation, welding procedures, and filler materials.
  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections using appropriate gauges and instruments.
  • Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records.
  • Communicate findings and recommend corrective actions to fabrication and QA/QC teams.
  • Review welding documentation, procedures, and welder qualifications as required.
  • Support quality-control and continuous-improvement initiatives within the shop.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to shop safety and quality standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3+ years of weld inspection experience in a fabrication or industrial setting.
  • AWS CWI certification preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of ASME and AWS welding standards.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings.
  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
  • Experience working with QA/QC procedures and inspection records.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and professional workmanship.
