Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Superintendent to oversee change-outs, retrofits, installations, and complex electrical construction projects. This role is responsible for supervising day-to-day work activities of electricians, apprentices, helpers, and other assigned trade/craft workers.

The Electrical Superintendent will ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, applicable contractual agreements, code requirements, and budget objectives. This position requires strong leadership skills, electrical field expertise, scheduling capabilities, and the ability to coach and guide field teams in an active construction environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

A Day in the Life

  • Oversee day-to-day electrical field operations for change-outs, retrofits, installations, and complex construction projects.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of assigned electricians, apprentices, helpers, and other trade/craft workers.
  • Inspect work in progress and completed work to ensure conformance with specifications, drawings, code requirements, and quality standards.
  • Study project schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements to support successful project completion.
  • Interpret specifications, electrical blueprints, technical diagrams, and job orders as needed for the area of installation.
  • Review and release shop drawings and spool drawings for timely field installation.
  • Teach, coach, and guide teammates to ensure they work safely and productively.
  • Ensure appropriate teammates participate in hazard reporting.
  • Audit 5x5s and pre-task plans for compliance and hold teammates accountable for these actions.
  • Monitor and control manpower, tools, and equipment to ensure efficient and effective use of resources.
  • Provide oversight of inventory activities to support project needs.
  • Review weekly reports of costs incurred and identify possible cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with applicable contractual agreements and company budget objectives.
  • Support safe, productive, and high-quality execution of field work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • At least 5 years of industry experience, including supervisory experience.
  • Electrical construction field experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, installations, and construction practices.
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, including current NEC requirements.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification and knowledge of OSHA safety regulations.
  • Experience handling personnel issues.
  • Ability to use current technology, including computer, tablet, smartphone, Microsoft Teams, Procore, and BIM tools.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise, coach, and guide field teams.
  • Ability to coordinate manpower, tools, equipment, materials, and daily field activities.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, technical diagrams, and project documents.
  • Strong scheduling, planning, and resource management skills.
  • Ability to monitor costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support project budget goals.
  • Excellent mechanical, administrative, and analytical skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound field decisions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with project teams, field employees, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, productivity, and accountability.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support a positive jobsite culture.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Prior Electrical Superintendent or electrical foreman experience.
  • Experience managing commercial electrical construction projects.
  • Experience using Procore, BIM, and other construction management or field documentation platforms.
  • State Journeyman card or Master Electrician License.
