Position Summary
Our client is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead day-to-day procurement operations while building a strategic sourcing engine that improves pricing, protects lead times, and strengthens vendor performance. This highly visible role partners closely with project teams and division leaders to ensure material readiness, elevate purchasing tools and data, and drive consistent execution across New Construction, Special Projects, Industrial, Electrical, and Service teams. Ideal candidates bring strong leadership, supplier negotiation experience, and the ability to optimize procurement strategy in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (A Day in the Life)
- Review project demand, open purchase orders, lead times, and supplier performance trends to ensure material readiness
- Partner with project teams during pre-planning to forecast needs and de-risk procurement plans
- Coach and manage Purchasing Specialists, remove roadblocks, and ensure consistent execution across divisions
- Develop and execute a Strategic Sourcing Roadmap leveraging total annual spend to secure preferential pricing and protect lead times
- Resolve supplier escalations to protect schedules, quality, and project outcomes
- Oversee procurement functions supporting New Construction, Special Projects, Industrial, Electrical, and Service operations
- Manage the material takeoff process through the material takeoff team
- Drive continuous improvement in procurement-related software, tools, and reporting (new and existing)
- Establish and maintain a supplier scorecard program to evaluate and improve vendor performance (quality, delivery, responsiveness)
- Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and market conditions to validate pricing and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Negotiate purchase order terms and conditions with vendors to support project and operational requirements
- Maintain strict adherence to all company safety rules, regulations, procedures, and practices
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- 7+ years of purchasing/procurement experience
- 3+ years of purchasing team management experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Highly organized with strong follow-through and attention to detail
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and service mindset
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Diplomatic, effective collaborator with internal and external partners
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Professional demeanor with a positive, caring, customer-first approach
- Commitment to safety as the #1 priority
Preferred Qualifications
- Construction, contractor, or MEP procurement experience preferred
