Role Overview
The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for developing and growing key commercial HVAC accounts in the Chesapeake market. This role serves as the primary point of contact for customers, identifying opportunities, diagnosing operational challenges, and delivering tailored mechanical solutions.
Strategic Account Managers act as trusted advisors — aligning maintenance, repair, retrofit, and installation services with each customer’s operational and financial goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for assigned strategic accounts
- Develop and execute account growth and retention strategies
- Identify new service, maintenance, retrofit, and installation opportunities
- Diagnose customer operational challenges and design value-driven HVAC solutions
- Develop commercial HVAC maintenance and project estimates
- Collaborate with operations, service teams, and project management to ensure successful execution
- Deliver exceptional customer service and proactive communication
- Maintain strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydronic systems
- Track account performance, customer satisfaction, and revenue growth
Success Metrics
- Revenue growth within assigned strategic accounts
- Increased maintenance agreement penetration and contract renewals
- High customer retention and satisfaction scores
- Successful conversion of identified opportunities into awarded work
- Accurate and competitive HVAC estimates

Day in the Life
- Meeting with facility leaders to review system performance and future capital plans
- Identifying maintenance gaps and proposing service solutions
- Developing retrofit and installation estimates
- Collaborating with internal service and project teams
- Reviewing account performance metrics and planning retention strategies
- Strengthening long-term relationships through proactive engagement
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in commercial HVAC sales and account management
- Demonstrated track record of revenue growth and account retention
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent field experience considered
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in hydronic systems
- Experience developing HVAC maintenance and installation/retrofit estimates
- Industry certifications preferred (Certified Energy Manager, Professional Engineer, LEED accreditation)
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Strong customer service orientation and strategic thinking ability
