Ammonia Refrigeration Service Technician

Location: Fayetteville, NC (Relocation Welcome)

Job Type: Full-Time | Travel Required (~50%)

Field Role – Industrial Refrigeration

Pay Range: $30.00-$45.00 hr (DOE)


About the Role:

We are currently seeking an experienced Industrial Refrigeration (IR) Service Technician to join a growing team in the Fayetteville, NC area. This position involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining ammonia refrigeration systems and other large-scale industrial HVAC equipment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot breakdowns in ammonia refrigeration systems and related equipment
  • Disassemble and reassemble system components and perform mechanical repairs
  • Execute routine inspections and preventative maintenance tasks in line with customer agreements and safety standards
  • Perform repairs on evaporative condensers, compressors, controls, and electrical systems
  • Coordinate with service dispatch for job planning, material pickup, and scheduling
  • Track job completion, communicate status updates, and ensure compliance with all safety guidelines
  • Travel regularly (approximately 50%) for on-site service across client locations
  • Handle emergency service requests on short notice, including nights, weekends, and overtime

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in industrial refrigeration
  • Strong understanding of ammonia-based systems, cascade systems, rack systems, evaporative condensers, and large control systems
  • Experience rebuilding commercial/industrial compressors
  • EPA CFC Certification required
  • RETA Course I and II certifications preferred
  • Working knowledge of IIAR, RETA, and OSHA safety standards
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing schedules
  • Flexible availability, including for after-hours service calls and emergencies
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
