Director of Construction
The Director of Construction is responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day execution, performance, safety, quality, manpower coordination, customer satisfaction, and profitability of assigned commercial and industrial plumbing projects.
This position provides senior operational leadership to the Project Executive, Project Managers, the Senior Project Assistant and other project support teams while ensuring construction activities are planned, coordinated, and executed in alignment
with our client's standards. The Director of Construction partners closely with the President of Construction, Field Operations, Pre-Fabrication, VDC,
Estimating, Accounting, Safety, and Human Resources to drive operational consistency, strengthen project controls, develop team members, remove obstacles, and support the company’s long-term growth objectives. This role is expected to lead with
accountability, professionalism, and servant leadership while modeling Precision Plumbing’s mission, vision and core values.
Duties and Responsibilities
Construction Leadership & Department Management
• Provide leadership, direction, and accountability for assigned Project Executives, Project Managers, Senior Project
Assistants, and construction operations personnel.
• Translate company and division goals into clear departmental priorities, expectations, and performance standards.
• Mentor, coach, and develop project management team members to improve technical capability, leadership
effectiveness, ownership, and decision-making.
• Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, safety, professional communication, continuous improvement, and
servant leadership.
• Lead regular construction operations meetings, project reviews, forecasting discussions, and team coordination
sessions.
• Partner with Human Resources and senior leadership on recruiting, onboarding, employee development, performance
feedback, and retention initiatives.
Project Operations Oversight
• Oversee commercial and industrial plumbing projects from turnover through closeout.
• Ensure project teams understand scope, schedules, specifications, contract requirements, budgets, labor plans, procurement needs, risks, and customer expectations.
• Monitor project execution, schedule adherence, labor productivity, material procurement, change order status, manpower needs, and closeout deliverables.
• Remove operational obstacles impacting project success and escalate issues appropriately when senior leadership involvement is required.
• Ensure consistent execution of Precision Plumbing policies, procedures, project management standards, documentation practices, and operating systems.
• Coordinate closely with Field Operations, Superintendents, Foremen, Pre-Fabrication, VDC, Purchasing, Safety, and Accounting to support effective project delivery.
Financial Performance & Profitability
• Maintain accountability for the financial performance and profitability of projects and project teams.
• Review project budgets, forecasts, cost reports, labor performance, work-in-progress information, cash flow, change
orders, and billing status.
• Lead project review meetings to evaluate project health, identify risks, and drive corrective action plans.
• Ensure timely and accurate billing, change order tracking, cost projections, documentation, and collections support.
• Identify financial and operational risks early and work with project teams to protect margin and improve outcomes.
• Collaborate with Accounting and senior leadership to improve financial reporting accuracy, visibility, and accountability.
Customer & Business Relationship Management
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with general contractors, owners, developers, engineers, architects,
vendors, and strategic partners.
• Serve as a senior point of contact for customers and projects when escalated support or relationship management is
needed.
• Participate in customer meetings, project interviews, pursuit strategy discussions, and relationship-building initiatives as
requested.
• Resolve escalated customer concerns and project challenges in a professional, timely, and solution-focused manner.
• Support Estimating and Preconstruction teams by providing project execution input, risk review, lessons learned, and other feedback.
• Identify opportunities for repeat business, improved customer satisfaction, and long-term partnerships.
Safety, Quality & Risk Management
• Champion Precision Plumbing’s commitment to safety excellence and ensure project teams support and enforce company safety expectations.
• Partner with Safety Leadership and Field Operations to address safety trends, incident follow-up, hazard mitigation, and proactive safety planning.
• Ensure quality standards are clearly communicated, documented, and maintained across assigned projects.
• Monitor project risks, including contractual, financial, manpower, schedule, procurement, operational, safety, and quality exposures.
• Participate in the review and resolution of project claims, disputes, contract issues, and high-risk project situations.
• Promote lessons learned and continuous improvement practices to reduce rework, improve quality, and strengthen project delivery.
Workforce Planning & Resource Management
• Coordinate with Field Operations, Project Management, Pre-Fabrication, VDC, and senior leadership based on backlog, schedules, and projected work.
• Forecast staffing needs and identify potential gaps in project management, supervision, field labor, coordination, and support resources.
• Ensure resources are allocated effectively across projects to support schedule, productivity, safety, quality, and customer commitments.
• Support employee development, career pathing, training opportunities, and leadership growth within the construction operations team.
• Drive retention strategies that help build workforce stability, engagement, accountability, and professional growth.
Process Improvement & Innovation
• Lead implementation and refinement of construction-related systems, procedures, project controls, reporting tools, and best practices.
• Promote innovation and technology adoption across construction operations, including Procore, Vista, Bluebeam, Kojo, BIM/VDC coordination, dashboards, and reporting systems.
• Evaluate workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, communication, documentation, and
accountability.
• Support standardization of project turnover, procurement, labor planning, meeting cadence, closeout, and project review
processes.
• Maintain alignment with company initiatives, annual objectives, and operational improvement goals.

Position Requirements & What Will Catch Our Eyes:
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Management, or related field preferred;
equivalent industry experience may be considered.
• Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible construction operations or project management experience preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing project teams, project portfolios, or construction operations
personnel preferred.
• Strong construction experience required.
• Proven experience managing multiple projects, project teams, budgets, schedules, change orders, and customer
relationships.
• Strong understanding of project management, field operations, contract administration, procurement, risk management,
and financial controls.
• Experience supporting or managing annual construction revenue of $50 million preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Procore, Vista, Bluebeam, Kojo, and construction management technology preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites, customer locations, and company meetings as required.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to travel regularly between office, jobsites, customer meetings, and company events.
• Ability to navigate active construction environments safely while following all safety requirements.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, and move throughout office and jobsite environments.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to use computers, mobile devices, and communication equipment for extended periods.
