Safety Coordinator / Field Safety Representative
$45 hr
Per Diem: $150/day Available
Schedule: 13 Days On / 1 Day Off | 6 x 12-Hour Days
Location: Project Site (Travel Required)
Reports To: Project Safety Manager / Regional Safety Manager

Position Summary
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for promoting and maintaining a world-class safety culture across assigned construction projects. This position works closely with project management, craft personnel, subcontractors, and clients to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety standards, and site-specific safety requirements.
The successful candidate will serve as a visible field presence, proactively identifying hazards, coaching personnel, conducting inspections, facilitating training, and driving continuous improvement in safety performance.
Essential Responsibilities
· Conduct daily field safety inspections and audits.
· Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and implement corrective actions.
· Lead and facilitate toolbox talks, safety meetings, and site orientations.
· Ensure compliance with OSHA, client, and company safety requirements.
· Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and Safe Work Permits.
· Monitor high-risk activities including:
o Confined Space Entry
o Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
o Hot Work
o Excavation & Trenching
o Critical Lifts
o Fall Protection
o Energized Electrical Work
· Investigate incidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage events.
· Prepare incident reports and root cause analyses.
· Track corrective actions and verify closure.
· Conduct subcontractor safety evaluations and compliance reviews.
· Maintain site safety documentation, training records, and inspection logs.
· Participate in client safety meetings and audits.
· Assist project leadership in developing site-specific safety plans.
· Promote a positive safety culture through coaching and mentoring rather than enforcement alone.
· Support emergency response planning and drills.
Required Qualifications
· High School Diploma or GED required.
· 3+ years of construction, industrial, refinery, petrochemical, power, or oil & gas safety experience.
· Working knowledge of OSHA 1926 Construction Standards.
· Strong communication and leadership skills.
· Ability to influence safe behaviors at all organizational levels.
· Experience conducting field audits and incident investigations.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
· Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project locations.
Preferred Qualifications
· Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or related field.
· OSHA 30 Construction Certification.
· CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician).
· CSP (Certified Safety Professional).
· STSC or OHST certifications.
· First Aid / CPR / AED Certification.
· Experience with ISNetworld, Veriforce, Avetta, or client contractor-management systems.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to walk active construction sites for extended periods.
· Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, and elevated work platforms.
· Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
· Ability to wear required PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, FR clothing, gloves, and fall protection equipment.
