Plumbing Service Technician – $35–$45/hour

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Job Type: Full-time, Hourly (Non-Exempt)

Reports To: Plumbing Service Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation & Repair:
  • Install and repair water, gas, air, and drain piping systems.
  • Install and repair water heaters, domestic hot water boilers, circulating pumps, backflow preventers, and thermostatic mixing valves.
  • Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of cast iron, steel, brass, PVC, and copper.
  • Join pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulk joints.
  • Install and repair plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, bathtubs, and hot water storage tanks.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
  • Perform drain cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Diagnose and resolve plumbing issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Maintain good customer relations by communicating clearly, leaving work areas clean and orderly, and addressing customer concerns promptly.
  • Safety & Compliance:
  • Observe job sites and report and correct any unsafe working conditions.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure working environment.

Qualifications

  • Valid state driver's license and ability to pass an MVR check
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Ability to climb ladders and work from heights in excess of 4 feet
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to interpret various instructions
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Effective communication skills via telephone to customers and dispatch

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Journeyman’s or Master license preferred; experienced apprentices considered

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to adjust focus for close-up work, with or without correction
  • Ability to pass a physical ability test
