MEPX is seeking an experienced Director of Safety & Health to lead the company’s safety strategy across construction operations.
This role will oversee safety programs, OSHA compliance, jobsite safety, incident prevention, employee training, regulatory reporting, and safety performance. The Director will partner with executives, project managers, superintendents, foremen, employees, and subcontractors to promote safe and compliant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain company-wide safety policies, procedures, and programs.
- Provide safety leadership across active construction projects and facilities.
- Conduct jobsite inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments.
- Support JHAs, pre-task planning, site-specific safety plans, and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, client, project, and company safety requirements.
- Lead investigations involving injuries, near misses, property damage, and other incidents.
- Identify root causes and track corrective actions through completion.
- Develop safety training, new-hire orientations, and project-specific onboarding.
- Coach field leaders and employees on hazard recognition and safety accountability.
- Maintain OSHA logs, safety records, documentation, and regulatory reports.
- Monitor safety metrics, identify trends, and report performance to executive leadership.
- Support workers’ compensation, insurance, prequalification, and client reporting needs.
- Travel to active project sites as required.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive construction safety experience, including leadership responsibility.
- Experience leading safety programs in commercial, industrial, mechanical, electrical, or complex construction environments.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards and industry safety practices.
- Experience with jobsite inspections, audits, incident investigations, and root-cause analysis.
- Experience developing safety programs, policies, training, and performance metrics.
- Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and field hazards.
- Ability to work effectively with executives and field leadership.
- Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel to active project sites as needed.
Preferred Certifications
- CSP, Certified Safety Professional
- CHST, Construction Health and Safety Technician
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction
- First Aid/CPR/AED
- Additional construction safety or occupational health certifications are a plus.
