Job Title: Pipefitter – Manufacturing Facility

Location: Richmond, VA

Department: Manufacturing

Reports To: Manufacturing Superintendent

Job Summary

We are seeking skilled Pipefitters to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair piping systems within a manufacturing environment. This role supports safe and efficient plant operations by ensuring piping systems for steam, water, air, gas, hydraulic, and chemical processes operate reliably and meet all safety and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair industrial piping systems according to blueprints, schematics, and specifications
  • Measure, cut, thread, bend, and weld pipes using hand and power tools
  • Perform layout work for new piping systems and equipment tie-ins
  • Inspect piping systems for leaks, corrosion, wear, and code compliance
  • Troubleshoot system failures and perform corrective repairs to minimize downtime
  • Perform preventive maintenance on piping, valves, pumps, and related equipment
  • Coordinate work with maintenance, engineering, and production teams
  • Follow all plant safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and PPE policies
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair documentation
  • Support shutdowns, turnarounds, and emergency repairs as needed

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of a Pipefitter apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on experience
  • 3+ years of industrial or manufacturing pipefitting experience (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of industrial piping systems and material
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, and isometric drawings
  • Proficiency with welding, brazing, and pipe joining techniques (as applicable)
  • Strong understanding of industrial safety standards and procedures
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Skills & Certifications

  • Journeyman Pipefitter certification
  • Welding certifications (TIG, MIG, Stick)
  • Experience with high-pressure, steam, or chemical piping systems
  • Comfortable with 2" Schedule 80 pipe
  • Knowledge of OSHA and applicable industry codes (ASME, ANSI)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in manufacturing and industrial environments
  • Prolonged standing, bending, and kneeling

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to noise, heat, and industrial equipment
  • May require overtime, shift work, or on-call availability
