Service Manager – HVAC

Location: Raleigh, NC

Job Type: Full-time/On-site

Reports To: Branch Manager

Pay Range: $80,000-$100,000 + Service Manager Bonus Plan 


Position Summary:

We are seeking a results-driven Service Manager to lead a team of HVAC technicians in delivering high-quality service, repair, and retrofit solutions. This role is responsible for driving business performance, maintaining safety compliance, training field staff, and ensuring outstanding customer service. Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Development

  • Supervise, train, and mentor HVAC service technicians
  • Plan, assign, and review daily work performance
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support career growth
  • Manage team staffing including hiring, onboarding, and development
  • Ensure technician safety compliance and adherence to company policies

Operational Oversight

  • Manage daily operations including dispatch, job scheduling, and materials coordination
  • Review technician work and job records to ensure quality and safety standards
  • Support technicians with technical guidance and troubleshooting assistance
  • Ensure efficient use of tools, vehicles, and workforce to optimize productivity

Financial & Business Performance

  • Responsible for achieving financial goals, gross margins, and profitability targets
  • Oversee revenue growth across all lines of service: demand work, service agreements, and retrofit projects
  • Maintain 92%+ service agreement renewal rate
  • Regularly review service profitability reports and implement corrective actions when needed

Customer Service & Field Support

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customer communication and escalations
  • Assist customers with solutions, quotes, and service requests
  • Prepare for on-site visits, ensuring materials and coordination are in place
  • Maintain positive relationships and build customer loyalty through responsive service

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of HVAC service experience, with strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electronics, and controls
  • 1–3 years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred), or associate degree/technical certificate in HVAC
  • Proven ability to manage teams, resources, and service operations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and service management software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and time management abilities
  • Technologically proficient and data-driven decision maker
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and occasional overnight travel as needed

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience reading schematics and interpreting technical documentation
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations (OSHA) and field compliance
  • Ability to analyze service metrics and identify performance improvements
  • Comfortable with hands-on involvement when needed to support field teams
