Job Description

Title: Machine Shop Supervisor

Location: Sheboygan Falls, WI

Pay: Around $80,000 annually

Openings: 1

Shift: 1st Shift | 6:00am–2:30pm

Status: Full-Time | Exempt


Position Summary

The Machine Shop Supervisor leads a team of machinists, assemblers, and support staff to ensure high-quality, on-time production within the machine shop. This role provides day-to-day leadership, technical guidance, resource planning, and problem-solving support to keep production flowing efficiently and safely.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Personnel Management

  • Oversee daily workforce activities including hiring, employee development, coaching, and performance management.
  • Promote a safe work environment through proper PPE enforcement and immediate response to any safety concerns.

Production Oversight

  • Ensure on-time, high-quality part delivery that meets engineering specifications.
  • Conduct SIF (Short Interval Follow-ups) to remove barriers and keep work progressing.
  • Assign work, maintain clean work areas, and communicate routing updates.
  • Ensure correct blueprints, tools, and resources are available to employees.

Technical & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and train employees on procedures, best practices, and print clarification.
  • Drive efficiency by optimizing workflow, minimizing scrap, and reducing warranty issues.
  • Collaborate with machine operators to develop fixtures, new tooling, and improved procedures.
  • Submit ECNs and NCs to engineering as needed.
  • Diagnose equipment issues and coordinate with Maintenance.

Occasional Responsibilities

  • Operate forklift or hand truck; operate machines as needed.
  • Serve as Secondary Waste Handler and oversee waste handling activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a related field or equivalent technical certification.
  • 6+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • At least 1 year of demonstrated success in a lead or supervisory role preferred.
  • Strong math skills, including trigonometric calculations.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD required.
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints, routings, and specifications.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to direct, train, and support employees.

Physical Requirements & Environment

  • PPE required: safety glasses and safety shoes.
  • Regular walking, sitting, talking; occasional climbing, kneeling, crouching, and overhead reaching.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Work in a loud factory environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles.
