Job Description
Title: Machinist III (2nd Shift)
Location: Sheboygan Falls, WI
Pay: $22–$26/hour
Openings: 8
Shift Structure:
- Sunday: Start at 6:30pm, work a minimum of 6 hours
- Monday–Thursday: Start at 3:30pm, work a minimum of 8 hours
- Make-up hours: Any hours short from Sunday can be made up Mon–Thu
- Status: Full-Time | Non-Exempt
Position Summary
The Machinist III is responsible for the accurate and timely manufacture of precision parts following engineering prints and specifications. This role requires operating a variety of machining centers safely and efficiently, ensuring all components meet quality and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect materials and check for defective parts; perform routine machine maintenance.
- Identify materials and tooling needed for each job.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Set up, operate, and maintain machining equipment including grinders, lathes, saws, and mills.
- Interpret and understand blueprints to ensure correct production.
- Take precise measurements and verify accuracy.
- Select proper tooling and machine settings for each work order.
- Plan the sequence of machining operations for efficient part completion.
- Check finished parts for quality assurance.
- Program and prove out machining programs to achieve correct dimensions and finish.
Occasional Duties:
- Operate forklift, overhead crane; add coolant; assist with deburring and general shop support.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2–3 years machining experience preferred (not required).
- Basic math skills and ability to read blueprints/specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and safety focus.
- Basic computer skills; ability to work in both standard and metric.
- Ability to use tape measure and willingness to learn additional measuring tools.
Physical Requirements
- PPE required: safety glasses and safety shoes.
- Regular walking; frequent standing and hand use; occasional sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crawling.
- Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Lift 25 lbs regularly, 50 lbs occasionally.
- Use machining equipment, calipers, micrometers, scales, indicators, software, and personal machinist tools.
Work Environment
- Factory setting with exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and moving mechanical parts.
- Loud noise environment requiring hearing protection.
