Quality Control Manager – Construction Prefabrication

Location: Richmond, VA

Pay: $115,000–$130,000 annually (based on experience)

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule: Monday–Friday (additional hours as needed)

Kodiak is hiring an experienced Quality Control Managerto oversee quality operations for a large-scale commercial construction prefabrication manufacturing facility in Richmond, VA.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for someone who has built or managed Quality Management Systems (QMS) in manufacturing or construction environments and enjoys creating processes that improve quality, reduce rework, and drive operational excellence.

You'll partner with manufacturing leadership to develop quality standards across sheet metal fabrication, mechanical piping, welding, and modular assembly, while building a team of quality professionals focused on continuous improvement.

What You'll Do

  • Build, implement, and maintain a Quality Management System (QMS) for a commercial construction prefabrication facility.
  • Develop quality standards, inspection procedures, and work instructions for sheet metal fabrication, mechanical piping, welding, and assembly operations.
  • Establish quality metrics including:
  • First-pass yield
  • Defect rates
  • Rework
  • Process capability
  • Develop Statistical Process Control (SPC) programs and use data to identify trends and drive improvements.
  • Lead process audits and ensure compliance with company standards and customer specifications.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a team of Quality Inspectors.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations, and Project Management to resolve quality issues.
  • Lead root cause investigations using:
  • 5 Whys
  • Fishbone Diagrams
  • FMEA
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to reduce waste and improve productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards including ASME, SMACNA, AWS, and customer specifications.
  • Prepare quality reports, KPIs, and trend analyses for leadership.

What We're Looking ForRequired

  • 7+ years of quality leadership experience in manufacturing, construction, fabrication, or prefabrication.
  • Experience developing and implementing a Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Experience leading quality teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and quality management principles.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and quality reporting tools.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Manufacturing, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).

  • Knowledge of:

  • Familiarity with inspection equipment, gauges, visual inspections, and non-destructive testing (NDT).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to wear required PPE including safety glasses, hard hat, hearing protection, gloves, steel/composite toe boots, and high-visibility vest.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and safely assist with heavier materials using proper equipment or team lifting procedures.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, and inspect production processes throughout the facility.
