Mechanical Project Manager

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to oversee commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects in the Tampa market. This role will manage projects from pre-construction through closeout, ensuring successful performance in terms of budget, schedule, quality, safety, and client satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will have experience in plumbing, sheet metal, HVAC, piping, or a related mechanical construction environment, along with strong project management, communication, and organizational skills.

A Day in the Life

• Assist with the preparation and review of project estimates.
• Review client contracts for accuracy and completeness.
• Participate in pre-construction meetings with estimating and field operations.
• Prepare project budgets and establish cost centers for material, labor, and equipment tracking.
• Evaluate and scope vendors and subcontractors before purchase commitments are made.
• Prepare and review project submittals.
• Assist with developing and maintaining project schedules.
• Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with contract schedules.
• Develop detailed work plans with project supervision to sequence project activities effectively.
• Participate in labor forecasting and look-ahead scheduling.
• Prepare monthly project cost forecasts.
• Prepare pricing for change orders and update project budgets as needed.
• Monitor project progress to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with contract documents.
• Support on-site construction activities and field personnel as needed.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and correspondence.
• Attend project and coordination meetings.
• Oversee the financial and fiscal aspects of assigned projects.
• Ensure timely and accurate project closeout.
• Coordinate with design, purchasing, fabrication, and operations teams.
• Build strong working relationships with field personnel.
• Serve as a liaison between the client, subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.
• Help resolve project issues and maintain clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of project management experience in mechanical construction; additional experience preferred for senior-level roles.
• Experience in plumbing, sheet metal, HVAC, piping, or a related construction field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficiency with project management tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
• Strong understanding of project budgets, scheduling, cost tracking, and change management.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and field teams.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
