Director of Sales & Marketing (Industrial Construction)

📍 Location: Kingsport, TN (option to work from Greenville, SC)

💰 Compensation: $130,000–$160,000 base + $25,000 annual bonus

🚗 Car + Gas Card Provided | 70% Travel Required

Position Summary

Our client — a respected industrial and specialty construction contractor — is seeking a Director of Sales & Marketing to lead business development efforts across multiple sectors, including process industrial, chemical, pulp & paper, government (bid), manufacturing, battery, and nuclear.

This individual will serve as a key driver of growth, building client relationships, assessing market opportunities, and shaping strategic bid/no-bid decisions. The Director will partner closely with executive leadership to expand market share and position the company as a leading contractor in the Southeast.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within a 5–6 hour radius of the Kingsport office.
  • Develop and execute winning sales strategies in collaboration with the estimating and project teams.
  • Focus on industrial and process-oriented projects (electrical/instrumentation, piping, general contracting).
  • Support client engagement from pursuit through project delivery, ensuring long-term satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Maintain accurate CRM data, forecasting activity, and providing regular updates to leadership.
  • Collaborate with internal estimating, operations, and marketing staff to ensure alignment on growth initiatives.
  • Travel up to 70% for client meetings, networking, and project pursuits.

Qualifications

  • 4-year degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in sales or business development within industrial construction or specialty contracting.
  • Strong client network within the process industrial, chemical, or heavy manufacturing sectors.
  • Demonstrated success in capturing new business and managing complex project pursuits.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to manage time effectively in a travel-heavy, results-driven environment.

Compensation & Benefits
