Role Overview

This position is designed as a pathway to Chief Estimator within approximately 12 months. The Chief

Estimator (Designate) will play a critical leadership role overseeing all estimating functions across

piping, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical disciplines. The role focuses on accuracy, consistency,

and collaboration within a high-performing preconstruction environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead estimating activities across all MEP disciplines, ensuring consistency and accuracy in takeoffs,

budgets, and proposals.

• Collaborate closely with project management, engineering, and preconstruction teams to align

estimates with design and field execution.

• Review project specifications, drawings, and bid documents to prepare comprehensive and

competitive estimates.

• Manage and refine estimating tools, templates, and historical cost databases.

• Participate in pre-bid meetings, constructability reviews, and project planning sessions.

• Support the development of junior estimators and promote knowledge sharing across departments.

• Partner with leadership to implement process improvements and strategic initiatives that enhance

preconstruction performance.

Candidate Persona

You’re a seasoned estimator or preconstruction professional ready to advance into a senior leadership

role. You combine strong technical skills with strategic thinking, and you’re passionate about building

teams, improving processes, and contributing to the overall success of complex MEP projects.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.

• 10+ years of estimating experience in mechanical contracting or design-build environments.

• Broad understanding of piping, plumbing, and electrical systems.

• Strong analytical skills and proficiency with estimating software and digital takeoff tools.

• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop estimating teams.

• Excellent communication, organization, and presentation abilities.
