Request for CVs [Mechanical Construction Team Leader – Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Plant] Item Descriptions Remark Job Function/ Position Mechanical Construction Team Leader (Employment Type: Full-Time, Location: Texas, USA) Number of Hiring 1 Role & Responsibility We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Mechanical Construction Team Leader to oversee the mechanical construction of a bio-pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in the U.S. This individual will be responsible for managing all aspects of mechanical systems installation, including HVAC, clean utilities, and process piping, ensuring full compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. This is a key leadership role requiring technical expertise, construction management experience, and effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and interpret client requirements and reflect the company’s technical strengths in the mechanical design process.
- Conduct in-depth review of RFPs, F&IDs, and related documentation to accurately identify technical requirements for key production equipment such as purification systems and sterilizers, and ensure their integration into the overall process and facility design.
- Provide technical support during the early design phase, including mechanical layout planning, equipment arrangement, and utility load estimation.
- Propose mechanical system solutions optimized for the client’s production process and operational efficiency.
- Support the detailed design review and approval process for mechanical systems, ensuring alignment with client expectations and project specifications.
- Lead and manage all mechanical construction activities on bio-pharmaceutical plant sites, including HVAC systems, clean utilities (WFI, PW, Clean Steam), and process piping.
- Supervise subcontractors and mechanical field crews, ensuring safety, schedule, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineering/design teams, and QA/QC to ensure integrated project execution.
- Monitor project timelines, budgets, construction quality, and work progress; identify and resolve any issues that may impact performance or compliance.
- Provide technical input during design and construction phases, including constructability reviews and value engineering.
- Ensure strict adherence to cGMP, FDA, and local building codes throughout mechanical construction phases.
- Support validation, commissioning activities for mechanical systems to ensure compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain detailed project records, construction documentation, and reporting.
- Represent the mechanical team in project meetings with clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
Qualification Minimum Requirements:
- 15+ years of overall experience in mechanical construction or engineering, with at least 3 years of recent experience in mechanical construction of bio-pharmaceutical or life science manufacturing facilities.
- Proven hands-on experience in managing installation and integration of cleanroom mechanical systems and clean utilities.
- In-depth knowledge of cGMP, FDA, and industry-specific mechanical system requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and schedules.
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills in multidisciplinary project environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Construction experience with facilities located in Texas
- Prior experience working with multinational construction firms or in multicultural environments (e.g., Asia-based clients or general contractors)
- Prior experience working on EPC or EPCM projects within the bio-pharmaceutical, biotech, or high-tech manufacturing sectors.
- Familiarity with ISPE Baseline Guides, ASME BPE, and FDA/EMA regulatory frameworks.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or PMP certification is a plus.
- Working knowledge of BIM coordination tools (e.g., Revit, Navisworks) and construction management software.
- Strong professional network in the bio-pharmaceutical construction and EPC industries.
