Service Manager – Commercial/Industrial HVAC
📍 Location: Charlotte, NC
💼 Job Type: Full-Time | On-Site
💲 Pay Range: $80,000–$100,000 + Service Manager Bonus Plan
📌 Reports To: Branch Manager
Position Summary
We are seeking a results-driven Service Manager to lead a team of commercial HVAC technicians in delivering high-quality service, repair, and retrofit solutions. This role is responsible for driving business performance, maintaining safety compliance, developing field personnel, and ensuring exceptional customer service.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong HVAC technical knowledge, proven team management experience, and a passion for operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Supervise, train, mentor, and develop commercial HVAC Service Technicians.
- Plan, assign, and review daily work performance.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support employee career growth.
- Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and technician development.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and OSHA standards.
Operational Leadership
- Manage daily service operations, including dispatch, scheduling, and material coordination.
- Review technician work to ensure quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to field personnel.
- Maximize efficiency of labor, vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Support demand service, preventive maintenance, and retrofit operations.
Financial & Business Performance
- Drive branch profitability by achieving financial goals and gross margin targets.
- Support revenue growth through demand service, service agreements, and retrofit projects.
- Maintain a 92%+ service agreement renewal rate.
- Analyze service profitability reports and implement corrective action plans.
- Monitor KPIs and continuously improve operational performance.
Customer Service & Field Support
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer escalations.
- Develop solutions, proposals, and service recommendations.
- Coordinate field activities to ensure successful project execution.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships through responsive service.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of commercial HVAC service experience
- 1–3 years of supervisory or management experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or Associate degree/technical certification in HVAC or related field
- Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, controls, and electronics
- Experience leading service teams and managing field operations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and service management software
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to remain calm and effective in fast-paced environments
- Willingness to work occasional overtime, weekends, and overnight travel as needed
Preferred Skills
- Ability to interpret HVAC schematics and technical documentation
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and field safety compliance
- Experience analyzing service metrics and driving operational improvements
- Comfortable providing hands-on technical support when needed
