Job Description

Construction Site Safety Specialist

Location: Jeffersonville, IN

Project: Canadian Solar – $800M PV Manufacturing Facility

Why Join Us?

This is more than a jobsite—it’s a landmark project shaping the future of clean energy in the U.S. Canadian Solar’s $800M manufacturing facility represents a major investment in domestic solar production, offering the rare opportunity to contribute to a high-impact, large-scale build from the ground up. With a strong commitment to safety, innovation, and sustainability, this project sets the standard for what modern construction can achieve.

Role Overview

The Construction Site Safety Specialist will serve as a key advocate for a zero-incident culture, partnering closely with field teams, subcontractors, and leadership to ensure a safe, compliant, and high-performing jobsite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily site safety inspections and hazard assessments across active construction zones
  • Enforce OSHA standards and company safety policies among all subcontractors and trades
  • Lead toolbox talks, safety orientations, and ongoing training initiatives
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; implement corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, logs, and compliance records
  • Collaborate with project leadership to proactively identify and mitigate risks
  • Support safety audits and ensure readiness for regulatory inspections
  • Promote a culture of accountability, awareness, and continuous improvement on site

Success Metrics

  • 100% completion of required safety training and onboarding for all personnel
  • Timely reporting and resolution of safety incidents and near misses
  • Positive audit outcomes and regulatory compliance scores
  • Demonstrated improvement in proactive safety observations and reporting

Candidate Persona – Who You Are

You’re a field-first safety professional who thrives in fast-paced construction environments. You don’t just enforce rules—you influence behavior. You’re confident walking the site, engaging crews, and addressing issues in real time. You’re looking for a role where your voice matters, your impact is visible, and your work contributes to something bigger than the build itself.

Day in the Life

  • Start the day with a site walk and pre-task safety planning with trade partners
  • Lead a morning toolbox talk focused on current jobsite risks
  • Conduct inspections across multiple work zones (civil, structural, MEP)
  • Partner with supervisors to correct hazards and improve workflows
  • Document findings, track metrics, and prepare reports for leadership
  • Wrap the day ensuring all crews leave the site safely and compliantly

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3+ years of construction site safety experience (MEP experience strongly preferred)
  • OSHA 30 Certification required
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety best practices
  • Experience working on large-scale commercial or industrial construction projects preferred
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence diverse field teams
  • Proficiency in safety documentation, reporting, and incident investigation
  • Ability to work full-time on-site in Jeffersonville, IN
